What's on the ballot and key dates

On the ballot: U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and proposed constitutional amendments, plus local races in some areas.

  • Early voting and absentee ballot requests are now closed.
  • Mailed absentee ballots must reach your parish registrar of voters by Monday, November 2 at 4:30 p.m. A postmark does not count, so mail it early.
  • On election day, polls are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you are in line when polls close, you can still vote.

Shall the City of Donaldsonville, State of Louisiana (the "City"), under the provisions of Article VI, Section 29 of the Constitution of the State of Louisiana of 1974, and other constitutional and statutory authority, be authorized to levy and collect a tax of one-half of one percent (1/2%) (the "Tax") (an estimated $450,000 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year), in perpetuity from and after July 1, 2012, upon the sale at retail, the use, the lease or rental, the consumption, and the storage for use or consumption, of tangible personal property and on sales of services in the City, all as defined by law, in perpetuity, with the proceeds of the Tax (after paying the reasonable and necessary expenses of collecting and administering the Tax), to be dedicated and used for the purpose of constructing and maintaining roads, streets, bridges and sidewalks, and other infrastructure and works of public improvement, with the proceeds of the Tax to be subject to being funded into bonds for any of the aforesaid capital purposes in accordance with the provisions of Louisiana Law?
