On the ballot: U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and proposed constitutional amendments, plus local races in some areas.

  • Early voting and absentee ballot requests are now closed.
  • Mailed absentee ballots must reach your parish registrar of voters by Monday, November 2 at 4:30 p.m. A postmark does not count, so mail it early.
  • On election day, polls are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you are in line when polls close, you can still vote.

What the ballot said

Shall Sabine Parish Subdistrict of the Eleventh Judicial Enforcement District of the Parishes of DeSoto and Sabine, State of Louisiana (the "Subdistrict"), under the provisions of L.R.S. 16:60 et seq., and other constitutional and statutory authority, be authorized to levy and collect a tax of one eighth of one percent (1/8%) (the "Tax") upon the sale at retail, the use, the lease or rental, the consumption, and the storage for use or consumption, of tangible personal property and on sales of services within the Subdistrict, all as defined in R.S. 47:301 through 47:317, with the proceeds of the Tax to be dedicated and used solely for payment into the District Attorney's general fund to be disbursed by the District Attorney in accordance with law, including, but not limited to, disbursement to pay the costs of renovating, improving and equipping a facility in Sabine Parish for the offices of the District Attorney?
