  • Early voting and absentee ballot requests are now closed.
  • Mailed absentee ballots must reach your parish registrar of voters by Monday, November 2 at 4:30 p.m. A postmark does not count, so mail it early.
  • On election day, polls are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you are in line when polls close, you can still vote.

What the ballot said

Shall the Village of Provencal, State of Louisiana (the "Village"), under the provisions of Article VI, Section 29 of the Constitution of the State of Louisiana of 1974, and other constitutional and statutory authority, be authorized to levy and collect a tax of one percent (1%) (the "Tax") for a period of twenty (20) years from the date of the first levy thereof, upon the sale at retail, the use, the lease or rental, the consumption, and the storage for use or consumption, of tangible personal property and on sales of services in the Village, all as defined in La. R.S. 47:301 to 47:317, inclusive, with the proceeds of the Tax (after first paying the reasonable and necessary expenses of collecting and administering the Tax) to be dedicated and used for any lawful corporate purpose by the Village?
