What's on the ballot and key dates

On the ballot: U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and proposed constitutional amendments, plus local races in some areas.

  • Early voting and absentee ballot requests are now closed.
  • Mailed absentee ballots must reach your parish registrar of voters by Monday, November 2 at 4:30 p.m. A postmark does not count, so mail it early.
  • On election day, polls are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you are in line when polls close, you can still vote.

PARISHWIDE POLICE JURY PROPOSITION SUMMARY: 2% TAX UPON THE RENT OR FEE CHARGED FOR THE OCCUPANCY OF HOTEL ROOMS, MOTEL ROOMS, AND OVERNIGHT CAMPING FACILITIES WITHIN THE JURISDICTION OF THE PARISH TOURIST COMMISSION (SAID TAX TO BE IN ADDITION TO ANY OTHER TAXES THEREON), WITH THE PROCEEDS OF THE TAX (AFTER PAYING REASONABLE AND NECESSARY COSTS AND EXPENSES OF COLLECTING AND ADMINISTERING THE TAX) TO BE USED AS FOLLOWS: 1. ONE-HALF (1/2) TO MAINTAIN, OPERATE AND IMPROVE THE PARISH TOURISM CENTER; AND 2. ONE-HALF (1/2) FOR THE CONSTRUCTION, OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE PARISH CIVIC CENTER/COVERED ARENA.

What the ballot said

Shall the Parish of Beauregard, State of Louisiana (the "Parish"), under the provisions of La. R.S. 33:4574.1(Q), and other constitutional and statutory authority, be authorized to levy and collect, a tax of two percent (2%) (the "Tax"), upon the rent or fee charged for the occupancy of hotel rooms, motel rooms, and overnight camping facilities within the jurisdiction of the Parish Tourist Commission (said Tax to be in addition to any other taxes thereon), with the proceeds of the Tax (after paying reasonable and necessary costs and expenses of collecting and administering the Tax) to be used as follows: 1. one-half (1/2) to maintain, operate and improve the Parish tourism center; and 2. one-half (1/2) for the construction, operation and maintenance of the Parish Civic Center/Covered Arena?
